Ascend Software, a leading provider of business process management solutions, today announced that Southern Illinois Health System (SIHS) selected Ascend’s SmartTouch HR Imaging to create a paperless environment in its Human Resources Department. The Accounting Department was the first to deploy Ascend Software solutions in SIHS. The Human Resources Department will now use SmartTouch HR Imaging to scan all HR documents and go paperless, resulting in increased efficiency while reducing costs and saving time. The not-for-profit health care system is comprised of over twenty facilities, including three inpatient hospitals, plus two clinics, two physician office buildings, an urgent care and dedicated centers which include neurology, cancer, heart, sleep and rehabilitation.
“Our Accounting Department was already benefiting from using Ascend Software solutions, so the framework was in place with our IT department when we chose to expand our relationship to include our HR Department,” said Cindy Norris, HRIS Specialist, Southern Illinois Health System. “For a multi-system organization such as ours with a number of different locations, it has been extremely advantageous not to have to store huge amounts of employee paper files. To currently locate an employee’s file, the HR staff simply accesses our HRIS system and our employee information is readily available on our desktop. The Ascend team provided a seamless transition, including deployment, training and education of the HR staff – making it a thrilling experience leading our HR team into a paperless environment,” concluded Norris.
